Quorum Technologies: New Generation Sputter Coaters – TurboQ and RotaQ

A new look with improved functionality! Quorum Technologies has listened to many customer requests and completely redesigned the desktop coaters for electron microscopy. The new QCoat series replaces the Q150R Plus, Q150T Plus, and Q150V Plus systems. The Q150Plus series will be supported by Quorum for seven more years from the last delivery date.

As usual, the devices will be available in the S (pure sputter coater), E (pure evaporator), and ES (combination device) variants. The big difference is that there are now only two base devices: a pre-vacuum device – the RotaQ – and a high-vacuum device – the TurboQ. The TurboQ, based on the top device of the previous series, the Q150V Plus, can achieve an ultimate base vacuum of 1x10^-6 mbar.

Each device comes with a thickness monitor and a metal vacuum hose to create optimal vacuum conditions. The RotaQ can sputter platinum without an upgrade, and the sample stage is tiltable.

The reduced footprint design saves valuable space on the lab bench. Samples can be safely placed on the flat design while the chamber is vented. All devices now feature a high chamber, and both the sample stage and thickness monitor are height-adjustable to bring the sample closer to the target for the sputtering process or to achieve a greater distance from the hot source for carbon evaporation. Quorum now uses the sample chambers already installed in the Q150V Plus for all devices, resulting in a better vacuum.
