New – SMU module for the M81
The M81 is a universal device family for a wide range of electrical measurement tasks. The central unit can control or read up to six independent channels, up to three as source channels and three as measurement channels. One of the M81's key features is its ability to perform low-noise and sensitive measurements, even with small currents. Small currents are important for electrical characterization at low temperatures in order to minimize Joule heating, or for nanoscale samples such as 2D materials or nanostructures.
The new SMU module makes the M81 even more versatile. SMU stands for “Source Measure Unit.” It therefore includes both the source and the measurement capability. Since the user can choose between AC, DC, and lock-in, each with current or voltage excitation, the M81-SMU combines the capabilities of six instrument pairs! Possible samples range from conductors to insulating materials.
