AFMWorkshop at MIT
AFMWorkshop's final installation of 2020 was an HR+ AFM at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) in Dr. Riccardo Comin's laboratory. Qian Song, shown in this picture, will study oxygen sensitive 2-D materials for his Ph. D. dissertation. For this application AFMWorkshop fabricated a special glove box using an elastic cord vibration isolation platform. The noise floor of the HR+ AFM at installation was 25 picometers.
Also in December, AFMWorkshop entered into a collaboration with MIT's Dr. Benita M Comeau to create a haptic interface for their TT-2 AFM. Initially the haptic interface will control the Z axis of the AFM and will be used for educating MIT students in AFM design and operation.
