Successful installation of WITec's Alpha300 Apyron at PoliTo's Department of Applied Science and Technology

On 21-23 June, we successfully installed a new Alpha300Apyron from WITec at the Department of Applied Science and Technology of the Politecnico di Torino.

Laura Fabris and her group leverage surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy to develop novel sensing and diagnostic methods for the rapid identification of biomarkers of disease, viral RNA, and drugs, with the goal of making them sensitive and reproducible, yet cheap and simple to use, so that they can reach any user, regardless of their socioeconomical status. Their research has recently been supported by an ERC Consolidator Grant.

The alpha300 apyron is the top-of-the-line Raman imaging system in WITec’s microscope series. It combines ease-of-use and ultimate capability by automating hardware control and offering pre-configured measurement routines. This streamlines the experimental workflow and yields reproducible results with unrivaled speed, sensitivity and resolution. With the release of a new generation of alpha300 apyron microscopes, WITec now takes Raman imaging automation to the next level.

Features of the Alpha300 Apyron

  • Extensive automation: automated laser wavelength selection and spectrometer adjustment
  • True confocality and wavelength-optimized design
  • Unrivaled data acquisition speed
  • TruePower: determines absolute laser power with <0.1 mW accuracy
  • Ultra-high-throughput spectrometers for unprecedented spectral resolution
