NanoTest Vantage – Nanoindenter for high-temperature applications

Fig. 1: Schematic of the patented high-temperature system design. Heat rises, but thanks to horizontal loading design, this has no impact on the depth measurement sensors.

Fig. 2: Active heating of the indenter tip. Without active and separate tip heating, heat flow between sample and indenter tip cannot be avoided.
Subjecting materials to high temperatures often leads to significant changes in their mechanic properties. Especially in aeronautics there is a wide array of applications in the array above 400 °C and for wear protective coatings.
In more than 10 years, Micro Materials has gained substantial know-how, through the close cooperation with leading scientists, to develop market-leading nano and micro mechanical test platforms for high-temperature measurements up to 750 °C. Key features of this measurement system are the inherent thermal stability and its unrivaled design.
A listing of all publications on high-temperature nano-indentation at the end of 2013 showed that all relevant data was measured in a temperature range above 400 °C with NanoTest systems.
Thus NanoTest Vantage is the system of choice for all researchers and scientists who perform nano mechanical and tribological examinations on materials and coatings at elevated temperatures.
