Compact Handheld X-ray Sources for Portable XRF and Imaging – MAGNUM Series
From MoxtekMoxtek handheld X-ray sources are engineered for portable XRF and compact imaging instruments requiring stable output, low power consumption, and minimal weight. The MAGNUM and ULTRA-LITE MAGNUM series combine a grounded-anode monoblock design with excellent spectral purity, small focal spot sizes, and short sampling times — enabling fast, accurate analysis in portable and battery-powered devices.
- Compact and lightweight designs for handheld instruments
- High X-ray output with low power consumption
- Stable spectral performance across operating voltages
- Small focal spot for high-resolution measurements
- Designed for close coupling of tube and detector
- Available in multiple target materials for specific XRF applications
Further information
Moxtek handheld X-ray sources are designed specifically for portable analytical devices such as handheld XRF spectrometers, security tools, and compact imaging systems. Their monoblock architecture integrates the tube and high-voltage supply into a single lightweight unit, reducing system complexity and enabling prolonged battery operation.
The MAGNUM 50 kV monoblock is a small, low-power reflection tube delivering stable output, low spectral contamination, and improved measurement precision. The grounded-anode configuration supports very short spot-to-object distances and high geometric magnification, making it attractive for both XRF and radiographic applications.
The ULTRA-LITE MAGNUM 50 kV is the smallest and lightest source available from Moxtek, providing up to 4 W of power while maintaining excellent stability (<1% RSD). Its low mass significantly reduces the overall weight of handheld instruments and improves ergonomics.
Both product lines support a range of target materials — such as Ag, W, Rh, Pd, and Mo — enabling optimized excitation conditions for different elemental analysis requirements. Their efficient designs lead to short sampling times, stable long-term operation, and exceptional reliability in the field.
