Transmission cells for liquid and solid analysis
From SpecacSpecac transmission cells enable transmission measurements of liquid and solid samples under controlled temperature conditions. The modular system supports static and flow-through configurations and, with the appropriate cell holders, covers a wide temperature range from -190 °C to +250 °C.
Depending on the application, variants are available with 1/16" Swagelok connections (flush or with flow tubes), front ports for static measurements, and robust pellet holders for solid samples up to 8 mm thick. A wide selection of spacers allows the volume inside the cell to be flexibly adjusted. The choice of window materials enables flexible adaptation to UV, NIR, and MIR spectroscopic applications.

Transmission Cells for Liquid Analysis
The heatable liquid transmission cells are designed for transmission measurements of liquids under controlled heating or cooling conditions. The stainless steel cells support temperature ranges from -70 °C to +250 °C and are suitable for both static and flow-through measurements.
Static versions use Luer fittings for easy sample injection, while flow cells are equipped with 1/16" Swagelok fittings for use in pump-based systems and inline process analysis. Different spacers allow for flexible adjustment of path length and sample volume.
Available window materials:
- NaCl
- KBr
- CaF₂
- BaF₂
- ZnSe
- UV-Quartz
The removable window design makes cleaning, maintenance, and window replacement easier.
Transmission Cells for Solid-State Analysis
The heatable solid-state transmission cells were developed for thermal analysis of pellets and solid samples within a temperature range of -190 °C to +250 °C.
The system supports variable aperture sizes for samples with diameters ranging from 12 mm to 30 mm and sample thicknesses up to 8 mm. Depending on the configuration, the systems can be combined with electric heating jackets, water-heated holders, or VT cell holders.
The systems are particularly suitable for:
- Thermische Stabilitätsanalysen
- Phasenübergangsuntersuchungen
- Temperaturabhängige FTIR-Messungen
- Kryogene spektroskopische Anwendungen
- Variable Temperature (VT) Cell Holder
The VT cell holder expands the system for cryogenic and high-temperature spectroscopy applications. The vacuum-insulated assembly combines a coolant Dewar, a heating block, and a cell holder, enabling temperature-controlled measurements from -190 °C to +250 °C, depending on the configuration.
The VT cell holder is compatible with Specac liquid and solid-state transmission cuvettes and supports various UV, Vis, NIR, and IR window materials. Additionally, a four-port version is available for Raman, fluorescence, and UV spectroscopy, supporting measurement geometries at 90° and 180°.
Compatible configurations:
- Static liquid cells
- Liquid flow cells
- Solid-state transmission cells
- Cryogenic FTIR setups
- Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy
