ATR with disposable silicon crystals – Arrow
From SpecacThe Quest ATR accessory "Arrow" enables rapid (serial) measurement of liquid analytes or offers advantages for samples that are curing or drying. Entire batches can be prepared outside the spectrometer on disposable sample slides. The actual measuring element is an ultra-thin silicon ATR crystal in the sample slide. Arrow slides are held in place by a simple aluminum puck inserted into the Quest in place of the usual ATR crystal plate. This disposable system is retrofittable to all existing Quest units.

Further information
Silicon wafers offer efficient light coupling across the full wavenumber range of modern spectrometers and are a low-cost and convenient alternative to traditional ATR measurements using diamond or zinc selenide. It also offers a wide ranging chemical compatibility and the thin silicon element reduces the effect of the silicon absorbance bands in the mid IR region.
