Another FusionScope was successfully installed at a customer

In mid-June, Quantum Design USA installed the first FusionScope in the United States at the University of Minnesota. Since then, Prof. Bharat Jalan's team has been using the system to examine thin films, focusing on the structural and electrical characterization of the samples. The FusionScope, which combines atomic force and scanning electron microscopy, offers a range of new for sample characterization at the micro- and nanoscale.
Through the precise analysis of surfaces and electronic properties, the FusionScope provides researchers with a new approach to optimizing material properties. Particularly in the development of nanomaterials and semiconductors, the gained knowledge might significantly improve the efficiency and performance of these materials. The high resolution and versatility of the system make it possible to visualize processes in the nanometer range that would not be accessible using conventional methods.
The installation of the FusionScope represents a major step forward for the University of Minnesota. The device strengthens the university's position as a leading research center in the field of materials science in the USA. Prof. Jalan and his team hope that their findings will not only advance the scientific community, but also provide the basis for new technological applications in electronics, communications and other high-tech industries.
