Electrochemistry (EC) provides powerful tools to study redox reactions and interfacial processes, with potentiostats enabling precise control of potentials and currents. These principles also form the foundation of many biosensing approaches, where electrochemical signals report molecular activity or binding events.

Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) extends this capability by offering a label-free method to monitor subtle structural and interfacial changes at the solid/liquid boundary in real time. When integrated, EC and SPR deliver complementary insights: electrochemistry quantifies redox processes, while SPR tracks molecular or conformational changes simultaneously.

This hybrid approach enables unique applications such as monitoring redox reactions at the electrode/solution interface, electrodeposition dynamics, and redox-induced conformational changes in biomolecules, making it a powerful platform for advanced biosensor development.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • The fundamentals of electrochemistry and potentiostats as a basis for biosensing.
  • How biosensing applications benefit from combining electrochemical and optical readouts.
  • The role of SPR in providing real-time, label-free insights into molecular and interfacial dynamics.
